Academy Training

Coach demonstrates a technique to the boys at Oxford Hockey Club's academy trainingWe run weekly academy hockey training for U12 and U14 age groups on Mondays at Headington Girls’ School in Oxford. These sessions offer very high quality coaching to help our most talented junior players to develop their skills. Attendance is by invitation.

Times: U12 Boys and Girls 6.00-7.00pm.  U14 Boys and Girls arrive 6.30 for warm up then 7.00-8.00

About 40 boys and girls currently attend, and we offer specialist coaching for goalkeepers as well as on-pitch players. All of Oxford Hockey Club’s lead coaches have a minimum of England Hockey’s Level 2 Coach qualification. As well as the club’s trainers, we have regular guest coaches at academy sessions, including:Girls' training session at Oxford Hockey Club's academy

We are proud of the standard of coaching we can offer at the academy, and the clear benefits it’s showing for the youngsters who regularly attend. In the 2011-12 season, 50 of our junior boys and girls were selected at county level for JAC (Junior Academy Centre) training at under 13 to under 17 age groups.
